We are pioneers in the shipping of lobsters. Our lobsters were originally shipped to restaurants via train in wooden barrels, and we were one of the very first lobster pounds to ship lobsters overnight. We started mail-order shipping the first year that overnight shipping became available in the U.S. and have shipped many thousands of packages since.Not long before Steve (founder of Bayleys) passed away in 1978, he commented that perhaps someday there would even be a computer in his lobster pound. We are very sorry that he can not be here to see what the Internet has done to spread the good name of his lobster pound and make lobsters available to people across the country overnight. His small business has become a New England tradition for generations of vacationing families and locals alike.
