Michael and David Conceison
Boat Name: Big "C"
How long have you been lobstering?
This year, 2008, David is in his third year and Michael is just starting.
Why did you start?
We started because our father tried lobstering and liked it. We were interested in doing it, and both got student licenses.
Why do you like lobstering?
We like lobstering because it is a fun thing to do, and there are many different sea creatures that appear in our traps when we haul them up. We always have a nice time on the water with our father.

What is the significance of your boat's name?
When we bought the boat, it was already called, "Big C". We thought that this name would fit us well because our last name begins with a "C".
What is the most difficult part of lobstering?
One of the most difficult parts of lobstering is knowing where to set our traps, because lobsters are always moving to different parts of the ocean floor. Another very difficult part of lobstering is hauling in bad weather. Even a small patch of fog can lead you in the wrong direction, and you can get lost. When the swells are high, it makes it very hard to haul traps with the swells knocking into the boat.
Anything else you'd like to say about yourself or the industry?
Lobstering is very hard work, but you get rewarded with all the lobsters you catch. This has always been a fun hobby over the summer throughout the past few years and I hope we continue to be successful!
